Mix-up: India uses JF-17 Thunder on Navy Day masthead

Special report from the Indian Navy features Pakistan-China developed jet on masthead.

A special report released on Navy Day by the Indian maritime force in a local newspaper features the JF-17 Thunder fighter jet on the masthead - which has been jointly developed by Pakistan and China, an Indian news website reported on Monday.

Navy Day commemorates the attack on the Karachi harbour during the 1971 Pakistan-India war.

According to the report on the website, there has been no official reaction from the Indian Navy.

This is not the first time that a mistake has popped up in a government issued advertisement/supplement in India and Pakistan.

In March this year, an advertisement published on behalf of the Pakistan Navy for a multi-national exercise prominently featured images of Indian Navy warships.

In March, 2010 an advertisement issued by the police force in Pakistan’s Punjab province featured the logo of its counterpart in India’s Punjab state.

In January 2010, an Indian government advertisement pictured former Pakistan Air Force chief Tanvir Mahmood Ahmed alongside Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and cricketer Kapil Dev.
