Extra security: Muharram 5 procession in Old Sukkur

Twenty-three CCTV cameras were installed and 550 policemen and 150 Rangers were deployed at the route.

SUKKUR: The first procession, of the Islamic month, was held on Muharram 5 in Old Sukkur, amid tight security. Twenty-three CCTV cameras were installed and 550 policemen and 150 Rangers were deployed at the route, said Sukkur SSP Saqib Ismail Memon. The procession began from Markazi Imambargah at Bakhar Chowk, popularly known as Lal Makaan, and ended at the Dittal Shah graveyard. The remaining annual processions will be organised from Rohri on Muharram 9 and from Sukkur on Muharram 10. Both these processions will be organised on a large scale. For extra security during Ashura, 5,000 policemen and Rangers personnel have been deployed and CCTV cameras have been installed throughout the district.
