Mob Justice: Residents and cop beat ‘thief’

Allegedly stole bearings and other parts used in power looms.

GUJRANWALA: Local residents held a thief with the help of a traffic warden and beat him up on Tuesday. According to police officials, Khayali resident accused Ibrar and his friend Ameen allegedly stole bearings and other expensive parts used in power looms and were trying to make an escape when they were apprehended.  Traffic warden Zaheer Commando stopped Ibrar over suspicion and checked his bag where he found the stolen parts. Area residents then began beating the ‘thief’ and broke Ibrars left arm.”They all beat him for hours before finally handing him over to the police station,” an eyewitness told police. However, his friend Ameen managed to flee the scene. Zaheer handed the thief over to Kotwali police and police officials have registered a case.
