Hollywood’s power couple Moore, Kutcher split

LOS ANGELES:

Actor Demi Moore announced the end of her high-profile marriage to Ashton Kutcher “with great sadness” on November 17. The marriage fell apart after Kutcher’s reported infidelity with a woman less than half Moore’s age was confirmed.

According to rumours, Kutcher cheated with 22-year-old Texan Sara Leal on a trip to San Diego, allegedly on the night of his sixth wedding anniversary with Moore.

“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton,” the 49-year-old said in a statement issued through her publicist. “As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.”

Thirty-three-year-old Kutcher, tweeted a poignant message minutes after Moore’s announcement regarding the divorce.

“I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK,” he wrote. As well as being a famous acting couple, Moore and Kutcher have both been pioneers of the use of social media, notably Twitter.

Moore said she would now focus on rebuilding her life separately from Kutcher. “This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation,” she said.
