RAWALPINDI:

A two-day drama competition being held at the Rawalpindi Arts Council’s auditorium on Wednesday received a healthy response from the audience including college and university students.

The first play, “Shaam say pehle”, presented by the Federal Government Girls College F-7/2 branch highlighted deteriorating social values in the wake of modern technologies and trends.

The young actresses earned the applause of the audience through their acting and strong dialogues highlighting how social values could be saved in an ever-changing modern society through the adoption of religious and cultural values.

The second play, “Machar aap say dur rehnay par majbur”, presented by Quaid-e-Azam students, highlighted different practices of opportunism in the society. The play depicts an owner of a pharmaceutical company bringing medicine under the false claim of curing the dengue virus. However, by the end of the play, the owner’s son falls prey to the virus and dies as a result of the fake medicine he is administered.

On Friday, the students of the Government College for Women, Zafarul Haq Road branch, will stage “Ishtabahe-Nazar” and Government Post Graduate College, Satellite Town branch, a drama entitled “Paivund”.

The prize distribution ceremony will also be held on Friday, according to additional details provided by the press release issued by the Rawalpindi Arts Council.
