Majority of reconstructive work complete in S Waziristan: Officials

Pakistan Army has expedited the reconstruction process in South Waziristan saying almost 70 per cent of work complete.

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Army has expedited the reconstruction process in South Waziristan saying almost 70 per cent of work has been completed in the region.

Two 130 kilometre long roads are being constructed by Pakistan Army Engineers in the agency. One from Jandola Godkai and Spinkai Raghzai to Makeen for the Mehsud tribe, and up to Wana to facilitate the Wazir tribe.

A Pakistan Army spokesman told journalists that the return of Internally Displaced People (IDPs) will start as soon as their registration process concludes.

Work is being conducted on an emergency basis for the construction of schools, establishment of health departments and the supply of drinking water.

The Pakistan Army had recently announces that the internally displaced people will be returning soon to their homes after the area was cleared of militants in Operation Rah-e-Nijat.
