Information Minister Shibli Faraz has fired broadside at the opposition parties over their APC that will convene tomorrow against the government, saying “a bunch of losers will meet tomorrow to offer each other shoulder to cry on”.

“They neither have any strategy nor are we scared of them... APC will fail miserably to make any impact,” he said while addressing a press conference in Islamabad along with PM’s accountability adviser Shehzad Akbar on Saturday.

Opposition heavyweights including PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif and former PPP president Asif Ali Zardari will attend the APC via video link which is scheduled to be held in Islamabad on Monday (Sep 20).

“Convicted criminal will also address the APC who has refused to present himself before the court,” said Shibli referring to Nawaz whose non-bailable arrest warrants have been issued by the Islamabad High Court in Al-Azizia case, in which he failed to surrender to authorities earlier this month.

Senior PML-N leader Senator Pervaiz Rashid told The Express Tribune that Sharif had accepted Bilawal’s invitation for attending the APC via video link. He further stated Maryam Nawaz, Sharif’s daughter, would also be part of the PML-N delegation for the APC.

Recently, it was reported that Maryam would not become part of the PML-N delegation. As per the reports, the delegation was mainly included party President Shehbaz Sharif, former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Khawaja Asif and Ahsan Iqbal.

Contrary to earlier reports, several party leaders confirmed that Maryam would attend the APC.

The information minister, during today’s news conference, also accused opposition parties of trying to create hurdles for Pakistan to come out of FATF grey list. “Every positive development in the country is the bad news for opposition… they want economy and country to collapse,” Shibli maintained.
