KARACHI:

Pakistan number one Amir Atlas continued his good run at the Malaysian Open as he sailed into the semi-finals after an emphatic win over third-seed Azlan Iskandar.

The 21-year-old Atlas won the opening game 11-5 before Iskandar hit back with a 12-10 win. Atlas, however, clinched the tense third game 11-9 and finished off the match with an 11-6 win.

“I’m happy because it was a much-improved performance,” said Atlas, who overcame England’s Chris Ryder after a tough five-game battle in the first round. “I’m looking forward to the semi and hopefully will be able to carry on my performance.”

Atlas faces Cameron Pilley of Australia who beat Egypt’s Mohamed El Shorbagy 3-0.
