KARACHI:

Nearly 176 buildings must be vacated before the tropical cyclone hits at the end of this week, according to the Sindh Building Control Authority’s technical committee.

According to their survey, the foundations of all the buildings are not strong and are potential threats to residents, especially during the monsoon season.

The metrological department gave alerts about disturbed weather over the Arabian Sea, which could lead to cyclone this weekend.

The SBCA director general, Manzoor Qadir, declared an emergency in the department and all technical staff under 18 towns will be available at the emergency centre, around the clock.

Demolition director Muhammed Babar will supervise the SBCA staff. People can call the centre to register building-related accidents or complaints at the helpline (021-99232354). The SITE Town administrator, Imran Aslam, advised residents to call 021-35250474 in case of an emergency.
