LAHORE: Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI) conducted a session in collaboration with SMEA-USAID to create an environment beneficial for the establishment and growth of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
The exclusive session was held at the Bank Alfalah Learning Centre and attended by a considerable number of women. The USAID Small and Medium Size Enterprise Activity (SMEA) is helping Pakistani SMEs become more competitive by reforming policies and creating a stronger financial and operational framework for them to grow.
The aim of the session was to facilitate female entrepreneurs to set up their SMEs as SMEA is providing funds for them. It focused on guidance appropriate to SMEs' real needs. It aimed to provide information to women about where entrepreneurial opportunities existed that would enable them to transform their ideas into successful startups.
Small enterprises need workable policy
An introductory session was held for all members regarding their businesses followed by the explanation of the process of SMEA-USAID program along with requirements for the application process.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) CEO Jehanzeb Burana highlighted the services provided by PBIT for the entrepreneurs and startups. He informed the audience that the specialised entrepreneurship desk at PBIT aims to work closely with young entrepreneurs to facilitate and help them on various fronts, as they launch their businesses.

Expo Centre CEO Arif Mansur Khosa, while expressing his views at the event, explained about the various opportunities available in IT sector that can be availed by the women entrepreneurs. He stated that sessions like these have great potential in bringing out the talent and encouraged entrepreneurs to build their capacities in order to start and grow their ventures.
