MIRPUR: Since the announcement of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) general elections schedule, the AJK Election Commission has started immediate preparations to hold polls in a free, fair and transparent manner, official sources said.

According to the sources, in an exclusive interview on Monday it was disclosed that, “Candidates and their supporters shall have to strictly adhere to the code of ethics during the entire elections process.”

Referring to some salient features of the code, the sources said display of arms and loud speakers at public places will be completely banned during polling. Official sources informed that disciplinary action would be taken against officials violating the code of ethics or supporting any political party.

“Officials of all government departments have been directed to remain impartial and not to come under pressure from any side,” they added.
