Davis' release: LHC seeks explanation on missing families

Published: March 21, 2011

LHC CJ Ijaz Chaudhry refuses to take up petition challenging the release of American national Raymond Davis.

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday sought an explanation from the Capitol City Police Officer (CCPO) of Lahore Aslam Tareen about the mysterious absence of the families of Muhammad Fahim and Faizan Haider, the two men who were killed by US national Raymond Davis.

A petition was filed by one of the former lawyers of the deceased’s families.

The petition asked the court to take notice of the sudden disappearance of the families following the release of Davis.

LHC Chief Justice Ijaz Chaudhry heard the case and ordered Tareen to present a report on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Leader of the Oppostiion in the National Assembly (NA) Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz would support the formation of a judicial or parliamentary commission to probe the Raymond Davis case.

Speaking to Express 24/7 in Islamabad, he said that people are still confused about the results of case, adding that they have the right to know who the real culprit is.

The opposition leader said that Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani did not take his party into confidence over the issue.

He was of the view that an independent commission should be formed to probe the case.

It is quite evident now that all stakeholders were involved in settling the issue with USA and have a win win situation.

Political leaders should lead the people and portray the harsh facts instead of doing politics (lying publicly) and creating confusion among the masses.Recommend

God Help us! This is so freaking obvious that there is a strong political element in these courts! We have tonnes of problems which are much more severe than these people who got green cards. Thousands of people dead, target killings in karachi, terrorists getting freed and all the court can worry about are a few people who made some money out of their dead relatives?
stop trying to fool us and start dealing on proper issues!Recommend

Corrupt Elites in Pakistan who come to Power by US-PAK Army, is bound to be traitor. This is not the voice of an ordinary Pakistani in the street. Zardari, Gilani or Kiyani and Nawaz Sharif do not represent ordinary Pakistani’s interests. We must put both the Politicians and Forces on track. War on Terror is a Scam. It has been accepted by all academics. War is always against a group not against something that you can not touch or see or percieve. Pakistan must get out of this allyship. Because it is not good for Pakistan , China or even India. Remember it started in Afghanistan and it expanded to Pakistan with no logic at all. from here it will go to India and china. Its a design to conquer nations & their resources for economic benefits for few countries who are on the decline with the rise of economic Power in Asia. Pakistan must get out of this scam. Otherwise we will have more.People of Pakistan can help Govt. take that decision.Recommend

Pakistani Government Officials should learn a lesson (if they can learn any lessons) from how the US-Govt came to the support of its citizen and pulled him out.
Shame on the Pakistani Government, could not give ONLY Three Million US Dollars ($3Mn) to the Somali pirates to bring back the four Pakistanis being taken hostage.Recommend
