ISLAMABAD: Legendary actor Dilip Kumar’s 94th birth anniversary was celebrated on Sunday but with less vigour owing to the actor’s deteriorating health condition and the recent plane crash that killed 48 people.

Kumar has been admitted a hospital since Tuesday following severe swelling on his left leg. The actor is said to be recovering well.

The birthday celebrations were held at the Peshawar Press Club under the auspices of the Cultural Heritage Council. The event was participated by many including the elders, students and fans of the legendary actor.

“We celebrate the birthday every year with Kumar’s permission,” Shakil Waheedullah of CHC said, adding that unlike every year this has been a quiet birthday.

Kumar’s birthday has been celebrated on December 11 every year for the past eight years. The actor was born in Peshawar.

Waheedullah added that celebrations were low-key this year to express solidarity with the victims of the Pakistan International Airlines plane crash.
