JHELUM: A magistrate on Thursday sent a constable to jail on 14-days judicial remand for allegedly killing his fellow police officer.
The directions came after police in Jhelum on Thursday completed their investigations into the murder and presented a charge sheet before the district magistrate.
Kashif Ikram had been charged for killing his colleague, Constable Munawwar Hussein, with an official gun while out on patrol in a police van in the early hours of December 4.
Jhelum DPO Hassan Asad Alvi had subsequently formed an investigation team under Homicide Unit in-charge Sub Inspector Abdul Rehman to probe the matter.
On Thursday, the investigation officer told the court that Ikram and Hussein had had a fight and exchanged harsh words a day before the murder.
Seething, Ikram had allegedly planned to exact revenge. At 12:45am on Sunday morning, Ikram aimed his gun at Hussein and shot him dead.
The homicide unit tracked the constable down and arrested him along with the rifle he had used in the murder.
The IO told the court that investigations have been completed from every angle, the suspect has been arrested and the murder weapon recovered with charged as the main accused Ikram.
The magistrate subsequently sent him to jail for a fortnight.
