LAHORE: The Lahore High Court restrained the authorities of the University of Health Sciences (UHS) from displaying the open-merit list of admissions for MBBS/BDS till December 2. The order was issued on Wednesday after multiple petitions were heard against 2016’s admission regulations policy promulgated by the federal government.

Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza also restrained private medical and dental colleges from carrying out further admissions and directed them to submit record of the admissions made earlier.

The judge issued notice to the attorney general of Pakistan for assistance and sought comments from the provincial government on the petitions.

On behalf of the petitions, Advocate Munawarul Salam said the new regulation could not be enforced on the admissions for the year 2016-17.

Earlier, the court had questioned enforcement of the new admission policy as private colleges had already completed the admission process for session 2016-17.
