RAWALPINDI: A magistrate on Thursday conceded to a request by the police and granted four-day remand of three suspects arrested for their role in an alleged organ smuggling racket.

Magistrate Waqar Mansoor Baryar accepted police’s request and granted four days physical remand of Zafar Iqbal, the owner of the plaza from where 24 suspected organ donors were rescued, Faqeer Hussain, the main suspect of the organ smuggling racket, and Shehzad Qayyum alias Shani.

Police investigators stated that they wanted to interrogate the men.

While the magistrate granted custody of the three men, he turned down a bail plea of Bilqees Bibi for her alleged involvement in the case.

The court had initially denied police physical remand, only approving judicial custody. However, on Wednesday, an additional district and sessions judge allowed the police to get physical remand of the suspects.
