PESHAWAR: As many as 11 target killers were arrested by security officials in Dera Ismail Khan, sources said on Monday.

The target killers were apprehended near Dera Ismail Khan and were allegedly involved in planning a major attack during Muharram, said police officials.

Security sources also said that one of the target killers, identified as Shahzeb, had gunned down an on-duty police constable Ali Raza just before Muharram.

The developments came on the day when the Corps Commander Lieutenant General Hidayat Ur Rehman visited troops deployed in the sensitive areas of K-P and Fata for Muharram and praised their high state of preparedness, professionalism and devotion to duty, the ISPR said in a statement.

Corps Commander in his day-long visit interacted with the troops, elders and district administration of Hangu and D I Khan, two of the most volatile districts of K-P.
