MULTAN: In a bid to condemn Indian aggression on the border, civil society members and different political parties staged at least 10 protest demonstrations in various cities of South Punjab, including Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Layyah, Bhakkar, and Sahiwal on Monday.

Protesters took out the rally under the leadership of Cable Operators Association Chairperson Shahid Fareed Khattak from the press club to Traffic Chowk. They were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favour of Kashmir and Pakistan Army.

The protesters also shouted slogans against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On the occasion, the protesters also burnt the Indian flag.

While addressing the protesters, Shahid Fareed said they would block Indian channels in Dera Ghazi Khan and said Indian aggression across the Line of Control was totally unjustified. He added India’s irresponsible behaviour would also compel Pakistan to retaliate in the same manner. “We have decided to ban all Indian channels as a result of strained relations between India and Pakistan,” he pointed out.  “Indian dramas, programmes and movies will not be shown by cable operators,” he said.

He maintained that India had insulted our artists and actors by sending them back to Pakistan. Meanwhile, a number of protesters under the aegis of All Pakistan Minority Democratic Movement staged a rally from Chungi Number 7 to Chowk Katchery. Similarly, protests were also held by the Pakistan Muslim League Quaid-e-Azam and Sariakistan Democratic Party workers in Multan.
