ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) on Friday constituted a special committee to probe power theft in various parts of the federal capital.

Reviewing reports, IESCO Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Rana Abdul Khan created the committee under manager (S & I) and intelligence, said a statement issued by the power utility.

Dr Khan also directed the concerned SDOs, field staff and power theft checking teams to investigate theft in Sectors I-9 and G-7.

S.E Islamabad Raja Asghar was told to monitor the area and to disconnect power supply to those stealing power in addition to lodging an FIR under the new electricity theft law.

IESCO apprehended 11 more electricity thieves in various parts of the twin cities.

All the culprits were stealing power through Kundas and by tampering with the security strip of their power meters, he said. The spokesperson added that FIRs had been lodged against the power thieves.
