BAHAWALPUR: Security should be tightened on routes of Muharram processions and public gatherings held during the month should be monitored closely. This was said by Additional SP (retd) Ghulam Murtaza during a meeting on Monday.

He asked the officials of Bahawalpur city, Saddar, Khairpur Tamiwali and Hasilpur to make suitable arrangements during the month while directions issued by the security branch should be strictly followed.

He directed the SDPOs and SHOs to conduct meetings with members of peace committees in their areas concerned to formulate plans of action.

In the meeting, special focus was given to the eradication of crime. Murtaza said teams should be constituted for the arrests of wanted criminals.

He maintained complainants visiting police stations should be heard and if any officer was found being unjust to complainants, action will be taken against them.
