BATKHELA: The shepherds of Palai Bazdarra in Batkhela have claimed that their cattle have been gripped by a mysterious disease that is killing them.

A large number of cattle have died, but the shepherds have no clue about the disease, said a local of the area.

The shepherds said there are no vets at hospitals in their area, which has doubled their misery. Village councillor Hayatullah Khan and youth councillor Bilal Afghan told The Express Tribune they were trying to figure out what the disease was.

They said the animals’ feet get swollen due to the mysterious disease and within five hours they die.

They added officials of the livestock department and Malakand administration had not taken any action to investigate what the disease was or control it.

The shepherds and local representatives have urged the government to look into the matter and save the peoples’ only source of earning.
