Women crisis centre in financial trouble

The centre has been working to provide assistance to women in crisis since 2007

MULTAN: The Benazir Bhutto Women Crises Centre, Multan, has dealt with 230 cases of gender-based abuse and family disputes between June 2015, and June 30, 2016.

Imtiaz Feroz, a social welfare officer at the centre, said most of the cases reported to them were from women complaining that they their husbands did not give them monthly maintenance (Naan Nafqa). “The centre has been working to provide assistance to women in crisis since 2007.” However, the Benazir Bhutto Women Crises Centre has been facing financial trouble for several months, she said. “The staff has not received salaries for several months.”
