Six Balochistan Levies personnel killed in Gwadar

Militants fired a rocket at Levies vehicle, killing all the six officials on board

QUETTA: At least six Balochistan Levies personnel were killed and three others injured in a targeted attack in Gwadar district, close to the Iran border, on Thursday.

At around 6pm the Levies team was ambushed by miscreants near Kuldaan area of Teshil of Suntsar, said Gwadar's Deputy Commissioner Dr Tufail Baloch.

Locals said the militants reportedly signaled the passing vehicle to stop. While the driver did not comply, they were later hit by a rocket, which proved fatal. The vehicle was blown up.

“Six Balochistan Levies personnel were killed and three others injured,” Baloch added.

He said the Levies team was returning after the resolution of a land dispute in bordering region when the incident took place.

A large number of security forces personnel rushed to the spot and cordoned the area. The bodies were shifted to the district headquarters hospital.

The deceased were identified as Tehsildar Naeem Gichki,  Ali Jan, Sepoy Mohammad Amir, Sepoy Mohammad Imran, Sepoy Ubaidullah, Sepoy Akbar and injured as Resaldar Major Abdullah, Sepoy Nizam and Sepoy Dawood.

Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Zehri condemned the incident.
