PESHAWAR: An MoU was signed on Thursday to set up peace museum and department of archaeology at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU).

The agreement was inked by SBBWU Vice Chancellor Dr Razia Sultana and K-P Directorate of Archeology and Museum, Director Dr Abdul Samad. “Peace remains fundamental to our goal for education,” the VC said. “The core values of peace education can be promoted through the establishment of a museum of peace at the varsity by focusing on human security, equity, justice and intercultural understanding.”

According to the VC, the initiative will help combat militancy in the country.

“The museum is essential to bringing the true meaning of peace to light,” she added. “[Through this initiative], future generations and foreign visitors can explore the history and commitment of the people of Pakistan towards ensuring peace.”

According to the SBBWU VC, there is a pressing need to promote a realistic depiction of history which is essential to prevent conflict.

Participants lauded the VC’s efforts to promote peace by planning to set up the museum.

They reiterated their support and vowed to provide technical expertise for setting up the museum. Dr Sultana thanked experts for their valuable expertise and appreciated their commitment.
