PESHAWAR: Preventive campaigns have been initiated across the province in the wake of a growing number of Congo virus cases that have surfaced in other provinces.

The decision has been taken by the livestock department.

According to a handout issued from the department, the department has established 130 check posts throughout the province.

“At least 529 employees have been installed at these check posts,” the document stated. “They are carrying out preventive measures at local cattle markets to eliminate ticks.”

A circular has been issued by the livestock department’s extension wing to direct people about how to deal with the virus. According to the circular, Congo fever is spread by a virus which is transmitted from one animal to another and from animals to humans through a special kind of tick.
