If you were able to catch the opening ceremony of the Olympics early Saturday morning, you will agree when we say that Gisele Bündchen was quite literally the golden girl of the event. The Brazilian supermodel hit the catwalk in Rio, wearing a metallic, fully-sequined gown by Brazilian designer Alexandre Herchcovitch and left everyone in awe.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gisele walked out to the tune of Brazilian hit The Girl from Ipanema and proved why she is currently the highest paid supermodel in the world. Illuminated by a single spotlight, the 36-year-old’s gown – which featured both a long slit and a long train – dazzled and twinkled, while the crowd cheered on for her.

“The fabric of the dress has been developed especially for the occasion,” Alexandre told Vogue magazine. “I did not want a conventional gold but a colour that was very similar to the tone of Gisele’s hair and skin – a golden light.”

Prior to the ceremony, Gisele had been sharing her preparations process over her Instagram, which included frolicking on the beach and drinking coconut water straight from the fruit itself. Considering that she is one of Brazil’s most iconic celebrities ever, it was only fitting for her to be featured in the Olympic’s inaugural moments and that too, in such a grand manner.
