Campaign: Sindh polio-free for last three months

KARACHI: With all environmental samples of the polio virus tested negative, Sindh has been polio-free for the last three months. According to Sindh's Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) coordinator Fayyaz Jatoi, a special campaign has been planned for several districts of Sindh to achieve the goal of virus interception by the year 2016 and maintain it by the year 2017.

Polio watchdog commends govt’s efforts

The sub-national polio supplementary immunisation activity will take place from July 25 till July 30. The campaign will target 3,363, 539 children under five years old. The activity will focus mainly on community-based vaccination in 51 union councils in Karachi and 12 districts -— eight complete and four partial — in rural Sindh.

The mobile teams will hold campaigns in Sukkur, Larkana, Shikarpur, Khairpur, Kamber, Jacobabad, Ghotki and Kashmore between July 25 and July 28.
