Gridlock: Landslide blocks Shahra-e-Murree

ABBOTTABAD: Shahra-e-Murree was blocked because of heavy rain and land sliding in Galiyat Valley near Bara Gali on Tuesday. It is one of the main roads connecting the valley with the rest of the country. While talking to The Express Tribune, a police official said landslides in Bara Gali—24 kilometres from Galiyat Valley—caused traffic jams. He added the road was not cleared until Tuesday afternoon. “The traffic police kept diverting vehicles to link roads due to drift on the hill adjacent to Murree road.” Galiyat DSP Jameelur Rehman said a portion of the hill near Chiraiyan fell on the main road causing complete gridlock on Monday night.
