PESHAWAR: A traffic constable was shot dead in an apparent incident of target killing in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.

Sher Ali was shot dead in Bashirabad area when he was on his way home after completing duty hours, SP Cantt Kashif Zulfiqar told The Express Tribune.

The assailants fired at Ali as soon as he reached the said area and went to a nearby shop, Zulfiqar added.

The constable worked as a driver in traffic police, added the SP.

Earlier on June 19, gunmen killed a police constable in Garhi Sobat Khan area of Peshawar.

The policeman, identified as Gulzar, was deployed at Khazana police station and was on his way home when armed assailants targeted him.

Under attack: Police constable killed in Mardan

Similarly on June 16, sub-inspector Qayum Dad was killed in a road-side bomb blast that had targeted a police vehicle.

On May 10, another police constable was gunned down within the jurisdiction of Saro Shah police station of Mardan while a police check post was attacked in Michni Gate near Warsak Road.
