GUJRANWALA/BAHAWALPUR: A resident of Umer Town, Phalia, Gujranwala district, committed suicide on Monday. Police said he had been jobless and depressed because of it for some time.

He had married twice and had two families to provide for. Police said he had taken loans from a lot of people and was unable to pay them back.

He had relocated to Ranmal Sharif to get away from loan sharks, however, they had followed him there, police said.

On Monday, he swallowed poison and died. Bhagatpura police said they have registered a case against the people who had been pressuring him.

Separately, a 30-year-old woman committed suicide on Monday night.

Police said the woman, a resident of Rehman Colony, Rahim Yar Khan, did not have a happy married life. She and her husband would often argue. Police said they had argued again on Monday and she had swallowed anti-lice lotion.

Police said she was taken to a hospital where she died. Her body was handed over to her family for burial, police said.
