LAHORE: Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Khalil Tahir Sindhu praised police officials on Sunday for working hard in scorching heat during Ramazan.

“We are proud of hardworking and brave policemen,” the minister said while chairing a meeting to review security arrangements for religious places of minority communities.

Sindhu said he would visit various districts to monitor the arrangements. He said he would discuss with district administrations a plan to improve security at religious places. He said the government was doing its best to protect the rights of minority communities. The chief minister, he said, would not tolerate any negligence in this regard.

Sindhu said the provincial government had allocated appropriate funds in the budget to improve the law and order situation in the province. He said he hoped that the Safe City Project would prove a step in the right direction. On behalf of minority communities, the minister thanked the IGP and the home secretary for their cooperation.

Sindhu said Task Force on Human Rights would be established at provincial and district levels. Provincial Assembly members and the DCOs and DPOs concerned would be its members, he said.
