Policemen killed in two separate targeted attacks

QUETTA: At least four policemen were shot dead in two separate targeted attacks in Quetta on Tuesday afternoon.

In the first incident, assailants riding a motorbike opened indiscriminate fire on the polcie vehicle coming towards the city, SP Zahoor Afridi.

“Two policemen including constable Faiz Muhammad and driver Nameed were killed on the spot,” he said, adding the killers managed to flee from the scene.

Rescue workers and security forces reached the incident site, and shifted the bodies to Civil Hospital for examination after death.

No group claimed responsibility till filing of this report.

Meanwhile, in the second attack, armed men opened firing on a police mobile of Shalkot police near Hazar Ganji, an outskirt of the provincial capital.

As a result, driver Muhammad Ali and guard Muhammad Ayub were killed on the spot, police said.

A spate of targeted killings of police personnel in the capital city is continuing since the past few weeks. A policeman was shot dead inside a mosque near Galwamdni area last week.

Condemnation

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Balochistan Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri condemned the attack.
