The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Thursday pacer Muhammad Amir has been granted visa by UK authorities for Pakistan’s upcoming tour of England.

“The PCB has been officially informed that the UK Government has approved the visa for Muhammad Amir,” said a statement issued on Thursday.

The 24-year-old pacer, who will travel with the national team on June 18, was believed to face impediments in his visa application due to his conviction for spot-fixing in 2010.

He was sentenced for six months in a young offenders’ institute in England.

Amir was subsequently slapped with a five-year ban by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for his involvement in corruption. He made a comeback into the national side after his ban was over in September last year.

Since then, the pacer has become an important part of one-day and T20 sides for Pakistan.

Now, Amir will attend the 25-day conditioning camp and practice games arranged for the squad prior to the commencement of the Test series in England next month.
