Revised upwards: Interior division wins 39.2% increase in allocation

ISLAMABAD: The government has set aside Rs11.554 billion for the interior division in the fiscal budget 2016-17, which is 39.2 per cent higher than last year’s allocation of Rs8.3 billion.

Last year, the revised budget allocation stood at Rs7.984 billion for the interior division, while the current budgetary allocation for it is Rs3.57 billion higher than the revised allocation -- which is 44.71 per cent higher than the revised allocation.

While in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) a total of Rs11.554 billion has been allocated for interior division. Of the total, Rs1.617 billion have been allocated for new schemes while Rs9.045 billion have been allocated for ongoing schemes in the PSDP.

Under the head of new schemes for the interior division in PSDP, for the construction of Category-III Police Station/office of FIA at DI Khan (second revised), Rs7 million have been allocated, while it has an estimated cost of Rs21.59 million.

For the construction of Judicial and Administration Complex in the Mauve Area, G-11/4 Islamabad (revised PC-1)in PSDP Rs100 million have been allocated for the interior division while the estimated cost of this project is Rs708.53 million. This project was approved by Central Developmental Working Party (CDWP) on March 30 this year. For construction of a Model Prison at H-16 in Islamabad Rs200 million have been allocated in PSDP which was approved by CDWP in 2015 and has an estimated cost of Rs4.53 billion under the head of new schemes.



For establishment of an FM Radio for Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) at ITP headquarters, F-8/1 Islamabad Rs10 million have been allocated in PSDP for the interior division. In PSDP for security related projects pertaining to China-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC) Rs1.3 billion have been allocated.

For going scheme in PSDP, Rs10 million have been apportioned for Pakistan Automated Fingerprint Identification System Phase-II and Rs305 million have been allocated for Machine Readable Passport (Phase-III).

Up to Rs400 million has been apportioned for Establishment of National Forensic Science Agency and Islamabad Laboratory and Rs351 million have been allocated for the construction of accommodation for Special Security Division (Chinese Security), Pakistan Rangers (Sindh).

For narcotics control division, a total of Rs218.42 million have allocated in PSDP out of which Rs158 million have been apportioned for ongoing schemes and Rs60.42 million have been allocated for new schemes. Under ongoing projects in PSDP Rs37 million have been allocated Kala Dhaka Area Development Project, District Torghar, K-P. This project is being materialised along with assistance of USAID worth Rs25 million.

Some Rs37 million have also been allocated for the Khyber area development project, Rs42 million apportioned for Bajaur area development project while the same amount has been allocated for Mohmand area development project in the PSDP for ongoing projects.

Under new schemes for the narcotics control division Rs30.42 million have been allocated for development of parking for confiscated/seized vehicles of the Regional Directorate, Anti Narcotics Force at Lahore while Rs30 million have been allocated for Drug Testing Laboratory, Islamabad in PSDP.
