Our list of what's new and trending

Johnny and Jugnu

With a delicious menu and fun branding, this Lahore-based burger shack is a winner. It sells three types of chicken burgers, a tortilla wrap and one beef shami burger, but what really makes the burgers so flavourful are the six signature sauces - Atomic, Chipotle, Garlic, Jalapeno, Mushroom and Greek. The fillet burger with Chipotle sauce is our recommendation, and also happens to be their best-seller. It offers delivery service, so call now for your first order on 0321-1333363

Fridge of Kindness

Students in Peshawar have come up with the most remarkable way to help labourers beat the scorching summer heat. Inspired by the ‘Wall of Kindness,’ the students have set up a refrigerator on University Road, Peshawar’s bustling thoroughfare, to provide cold beverages and fresh fruits for daily wage earners. Set on the premises of a CNG station opposite the Islamia College, the refrigerator filled with fruits and fresh juices, provides welcome relief to workers. The fridge has been purchased through donations and the owner of a nearby CNG station provides power for it. Is there a better way to help out labourers in this heat? We don’t think so. Hoping to see this trend in other cities as well!

Whole Slice

The Whole Slice story began a few years ago when two friends wanted to eat healthier food in Pakistan and started the first ready-to-eat health food company, Evergreen. Evergreen became a success (in fact, you should try it if you haven’t already!) and the mission to bring delicious and nutritious food conveniently to the people of Karachi was well underway. You can ‘make your own’ or get steak and cheese or turkey toppings – something that is hard to find in the city. Whole Slice allows you to choose your base for the pie as well as the toppings. And to the delight of many weight-watchers, they offer a whole range of equally delicious salads. For more information, visit facebook.com/wholeslicepizza

Banyan

Banyan is a non-profit organisation; a technology-enabled classroom in a village in Kasur, for primary school students, to instill values of collaboration and creativity. The idea is to provide quality education, with a synthesis of traditional teaching methods and modern teaching practices, such as e-learning, game-based exercises, problem-based learning and group activities.  We truly believe that education is the first step in changing our country for a better future. Blingjutti

Blingjutti is handcrafted in the heart of Punjab. Skilled craftsmen make these shoes locally, with style, quality and a hint of tradition in their items. They have all kinds of juttis, from simple everyday wear to fancy wedding wear. Our personal favourite is ‘The Empress’ which is silver with pearls and crystals – we can’t take our eyes off it!
