FAISALABAD: The Punjab government is making efforts to provide a congenial atmosphere for local and foreign investors, said Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) Chief Executive Officer Amena Cheema, while addressing the business community at the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI).

“Industrial growth is important for the overall progress and prosperity of Pakistan, in addition to the much-needed employment for youth,” she said, adding that the pace of local and foreign investment was not up to the mark because of the short-term policies coupled with the on-going energy crisis and law and order situation.

“The Punjab chief minister is keen to expedite the pace of investment to achieve the growth rate of 7%,” she added. She said the ‘one-window system’ had been introduced in PBIT to facilitate new investors and resolve their issues relating to various government departments.

She said the Punjab CM had allowed three economic zones in the province, including one in Faisalabad (M-3 Industrial Estate).
