Landmine blast kills father, son in Sibi

QUETTA: A father and his son were killed in a landmine blast in the Lehri area of Sibi, Balochistan on Thursday.

The incident occurred when a motorbike ran over a landmine in the Goth Abdul Ghafoor neighbourhood, resulting in a huge blast, the Levies forces said in a statement.

“As a result, a man named Bahram Khan died on the spot while his son sustained serious injuries,” it added.

Levies force along with rescue workers rushed to the scene and transported the body and injured to a nearby hospital where the injured Muhammad Siddique succumbed to his injuries.

Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri condemned the incident and expressed grief over the death of the father and his son. He has announced compensation for the deceased.

Levies sources said unknown miscreants had planted the mine, resulting in the tragic incident.

The bodies had been handed over to the family while investigations are underway.
