MULTAN:

Muzaffargarh police on Sunday arrested three persons for allegedly kidnapping and raping a woman.

Talking to reporters, Muzaffargarh DPO Awais Ahmed Malik said Khalid Shehzad Gujjar, Altaf and ASI Mehr Allah Bakhsh Seyal had been arrested.

“Gujjar introduced himself as the bureau chief of a local TV channel. He was running a recruiting agency. He used to sexually abuse jobless women who came to the office and also filmed the assaults. These women were later blackmailed. Some of them were also trafficked,” Malik said.

He said the accused had kidnapped Fauzia*, a resident of an adjacent village. “They detained her for eight months,” he said.

Fauzia escaped and contacted police to take action against them. However, she was rebuffed. The DPO said that action would also be taken against the SHO, who had failed to take action against the accused. *The name has been changed to protect identity
