RAHIM YAR KHAN/ SUKKUR:

Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah on Sunday urged the government to raise the issue of the Indian spy arrested in Balochistan before the United Nations to show the international community how New Delhi is interfering in Pakistan’s internal matters to destablise it.

Pakistani security forces on Thursday arrested from Balochistan a commander-ranked officer of the Indian Navy, Kul Bhoshan Yadav, who had been working for India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), and was involved in fomenting violence in Balochistan and Karachi.

Talking to media in Sukkur, Shah said this was not an ordinary incident. “Pakistan has been accusing India’s RAW of spreading terror in Balochistan… this claim has been proved right by this arrest,” he said.

Terming the visit of Iranian president as a good omen, he said, “We should not cast doubts upon Iran in the wake of RAW agent’s arrest. Iran is our neighbour and brotherly country. Now after lifting of sanctions upon Iran, I am hopeful that the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project will be completed soon.”

He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had taken parliament into confidence when he was going to initiate a treason trial against former President Pervez Musharraf. “But why did he fail to inform the parliament before allowing him (Musharraf) to leave the country?” he asked.

Shah said a parliamentary committee had been constituted on matter of the Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) proposed privatisation and a bill would be tabled in the assembly pretty soon.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday said the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz could not stand the idea of his party flourishing in Punjab.

Talking to newly elected local government officials in Rahim Yar Khan, Bilawal accused the government of trying to sabotage the PPP rally in the district on Saturday. “PPP success in Rahim Yar Khan, despite the government’s tactics, is a slap on the face of PML-N,” he said.

The PPP chairman warned the government that the people of Punjab will soon stand up for their rights since there was no democracy in the province and the masses were not getting any relief from the other pillars of the state, such as the judiciary.
