Boat capsizes: Two drown in Mangla Dam

The Thothal police have arrested the boat in charge for the negligence and a case was registered against him

MIRPUR: At least two persons drowned after a boat carrying 22 persons capsized in Mangla Dam on Wednesday, police said. The 22 persons from Mirpur Azad Jammu and Kashmir were going to attend the Urs of a local saint, when the overloaded boat sank in the reservoir near Bohar Colony. At least 20 pilgrims were rescued immediately by Rescue 1122 teams and the police. Later, they also recovered the bodies of the two drowned men identified as Muhammad Shoukat and Haroon Asghar. Haroon, a resident of Khanpur village, had recently married off. The Thothal police have arrested the boat in charge for the negligence and a case was registered against him.
