"It's an embarrassing and really insensitive ordeal," he said, adding that it was like asking someone to remove their underwear in public.

Singh blamed the general lack of understanding about what the turban is, for his ordeal. He said his situation could've been avoided if the security at the San Francisco's international airport knew more about the Sikh attire.

The incident comes weeks after Sikh Indian-American actor and designer said was barred from boarding an Aeromexico flight from Mexico City to New York for refusing to remove his turban.

The TSA is yet to respond to the incident.
