Oil and gas reserves in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) could prove to be a fate changer for the country, according to Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum (PBIF) President Mian Zahid Hussain, who added that the province has 9 trillion cubic feet of recoverable gas reserves and 500 million barrels of oil which are ten times as big as those of Pothohar reserves.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday, Hussain said that investment in the province could change the fate of the country, as it would help reduce unemployment and militancy. “The province is producing half of the total national oil output while pumping out 10% of the gas,” said Hussain.
OGDC and MOL are actively participating in exploring activities. However, other multinational companies are not actively scouting for opportunities due to security concerns.
