ISLAMABAD:

Following the resumption of some flights of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Sunday, Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid said workers who had upheld the national interest by resuming work and rejecting ‘politics’ deserved appreciation.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Rashid said that with the support of the public, the government would continue its efforts for the revival of loss-making organistions.

He said that patriotism demanded that everyone should rise above their personal interests.

Criticising the elements who had orchestrated a strike that crippled the country’s air transport for nearly six days, Rashid
said that they wanted to create chaos for their personal interests.

The information minister added that the strike observed by employees of an important organisation such as PIA, disrupted services for those in need of medical treatment, prevented students from taking up educational responsibilities and blocked employment opportunities for scores.
