Illegal: Nine arrested for poaching ducks

A team of Wildlife and Parks Department officials and Rangers have arrested nine people and fined them Rs60,000 for hunting two drakes in Kanganpur, Chunian tehsil, Kasur district.


According to a press release issued by the department, Wildlife and Parks Punjab Director General Khalid Ayaz Khan had constituted the team after Wildlife Assistant Director Hayat Shakoor Manj received a tip off about poaching in the Kanganpur border area.


Kanganpur Wildlife Inspector Allah Rakha was directed to arrest the poachers. Muhammad Fahad, Umair Khadim, Mohsin Siddique, Usman Khadim, Abdul Rehman, Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Boota, Muhammad Anwar and Muhammad Sufyan were arrested for illegal hunting and the ducks they had poached were seized from them. The officials also took away their hunting equipment. The poachers were fined Rs60,000.
