RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi City Traffic Police issued 23,687 tickets to traffic violators and impounded 2,011 vehicles in different police stations for lacking the proper documentation.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Shoaib Khurrum Janbaz said traffic police issued 1,517 tickets to the vehicles with tinted glass windows.

He said that 11,676 tickets were issued to vehicles lacking proper number plates and applied for plates.

The CTO added that an operation against tinted glasses vehicles will be carried out without any discrimination. He directed the traffic police officials to remove black papers from the vehicles immediately, keeping in view the current security situation in the twin cities.

Janbaz said that under age drivers are not aware of traffic rules and regulations due to which many accidents take place.

CTO said that directions have been passed on to the sector incharges and wardens that under age drivers should not be given any concession.
