Dawood University of Engineering and Technology’s (DUET) directorate of continuing professional development organised a seminar on ‘Understanding Unaccounted-for-Gas (UFG)’ at the university’s auditorium on Saturday.

The chief guest of the event, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) managing director Khalid Rahman, praised the efforts of students and faculty of the university. A delegation of senior management from SSGC was also present.

DUET vice-chancellor Dr Faizullah Abbasi presented and discussed his research report on UFG titled ‘The Soft Side of UFG - Diagnostics and Cure.’ Petroleum and gas department assistant professor Salim A Mughal delivered a presentation on ‘The Mystery of Unaccounted-for-Gas.’

Rahman said that he believed in giving attention and time to the students because they are future of the country. Looking at the enthusiasm of the students, Rahman said that he would like to invite the students to participate in SSGC’s forthcoming projects.

The company is going through a paradigm shift right now in terms of carrying out very large programmes, Rahman said. “We want [the] university to be a part of these programmes,” he added.
