A division bench of Lahore High Court on Thursday directed the provincial government, the city district government, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and directors of Archaeology and Environment Departments to submit replies to petitions against demolition of properties in Kapoorthala House, Old Anarkali and Chauburji for the construction of Orange Line Metro Train Project. Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh and Justice Shahid Kareem resumed hearing. A law officer sought more time to file a reply on behalf of the government. The bench then adjourned hearing till December 7 and extended the stay order against demolition of the petitioners’ properties. Several residents of Kapoorthala House and Chauburji had filed the petitions and pointed violations on part of the government when acquiring properties for the project.
