Kohat police made two arrests in journalist Hafeezur Rehman’s murder enquiry on Wednesday, including his brother Asim Naeem.


Rehman, a tv reporter, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Kalo Khan Banda in Kohat on November 22.


Police believe the journalist was killed by his brother Naeem, who hired the services of three assassins. The police say their investigation led them to identify the culprits through mobile phone records.They arrested Naeem and one of his accomplices, Muhtaram, from Kohat. Efforts are afoot to arrest the remaining suspects.


Naeem told the police he planned his brother’s murder. He said “unfair distribution of family inheritance” was the motive. Investigation revealed the suspect had been trying to murder Hafeez since the last five months; he had initially tried to poison the deceased.
