Also a winner in the last year’s APICTA, Eyedeus Labs once again bagged the Gold Award in the Start-up category for its product Ingrain, a platform for targeted native advertisement in videos.
Evamp & Saanga won the Gold Award in the Inclusion and Community category for its product Mobile Audio Streaming Service, which streams the audio feed from all popular TV and radio stations in Pakistan, allowing access to live audio from TV and radio via phone call by dialling in a short code.
The third Gold Award, in Tertiary Student category, went to students from Nust College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering for their research project Active and Intelligent Powered Ankle Foot Prosthesis for Trans-tibial Amputees. The only Silver Award was taken by a very young team for its project, Teddict, which is a network, learning portal for young students that makes learning more engaging by giving the primary role to the student.
Teddict, which recently graduated from The Nest i/o - P@SHA’s Technology Incubator in Karachi - allows students to learn their own way by letting them connect with each other for a diverse portfolio of concepts.
An alliance of national ICT organisations - P@SHA in case of Pakistan - of the member economies, the annual event is meant to promote ICT industry in the Asia Pacific and encourage the development of indigenous ICT solutions for the global market.
National teams from each country are selected after a rigorous ICT Awards competition in 17 countries including Australia, Brunei, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Macao, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam and China.
The delegates from member countries then compete against each other at a three-day regional event judged by industry professionals, technology veterans and thought leaders from the APAC region.
This year’s P@SHA delegation comprised 50 members with 22 technology products competing for the prestigious APICTA Awards against 197 products from 17 economies in the region.
“The P@SHA ICT Awards has provided a platform to show the world what technology companies and young people in Pakistan are capable of,” Jehan Ara President of P@SHA said. “This year we have once again proven that our products can be benchmarked against the best in the region.
