KARACHI:

Former home minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza has said he will form the district government in Badin with the support of his coalition partners, alleging that the Sindh government is still trying to snatch the mandate he has been given by the people of the Badin district.

Addressing a press conference at his residence in Badin on Sunday along with other district council members, Dr Mirza said that he has a total of 34 members in his group. "We'll form the district government in Badin," he said. Dr Mirza said that his candidates have also won the elections in one Union Council (UC) where the results have been withheld, adding that his candidates will also easily win the elections in three UCs where the polls were postponed on court orders.

Dr Mirza said that Badin SSP Ibrar Hussain Nekokar was supporting the provincial government and leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). Despite the tactics used by the PPP leaders, the people of Badin supported his group members, claimed Dr Mirza.

He said that he will go through the process to register his party if it is mandatory to form the district government, adding that he would support the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional.
